Artemis //Journey with Mugwort Medicine Bundle
Magickal Mugwort, Artemisia Vulgaris bundle with potent medicines to help you go on an intentional Plant Spirit Journey. Sacred Mugwort holds a very special place in my heart. They are an ancestral medicine, known by many, witches, deeply rooted in folk traditions and magic. To me, Mugwort is a Master Plant Teacher, guiding us to a deeper connection with the Earth, Plants, Stars, and our lineages, helping us feel safe here on Earth and integrate all the magic and gifts into our everyday lives.
Communing with plant spirits doesn’t always require the ingestion of plants, as we can connect at any moment by simply inviting their consciousness/ spirit into our awareness. This can be done through offering prayers, singing, creating altars and approaching them with reverence and love. However, working with plants physically is beautifully healing. Observing the changes that happen in our bodies and minds when we take a tincture, flower essence, or apply an oil to our skin allows us to experience the full spectrum and many aspects of the medicine they hold. When we intentionally connect with the plant, taking the time to sit with them, pray over them, plant seeds, or harvest their medicine, magic unfolds around us. They become our close family or friends, allies or teachers.
Mugwort grows abundantly in my garden, often reaching over 2m :) They thrive in disturbed soil, waste areas, and in full sunlight. I am sure you can meet + identify Mugwort easily by the silvery underside of her leaves, which connects Mugwort to the moon, and of course to the feminine. She is associated with Artemis, the Goddess of the moon, hunting, nature, and childbirth, embodying the energies of both the Moon and Venus.
Mugwort is an ancient remedy that holds significant importance and value in many cultures and traditions throughout history. In Slavic folklore, Mugwort was believed to offer protection against evil spirit + possession. It was used in smoke cleansing rituals for households during Spring, as well as to ward off storms. Bundles of Mugwort were hung at the door for protection, carried behind the belt for safety, or worn as wraths. Mugwort has been a very important ritual plant in Germany. People would use bundles of fresh herb to sweep over the ill, cleansing their aura, and burn it to dispel the spirits thought to cause sickness and disease.
Mugwort is mostly known for her ability to assist in experiencing lucid dreams, recalling dreams , and strengthening psychic abilities + intuition. However, to me, Mugwort is so much more than that. Mugwort has been very supportive ally in womb healing and protection, rooting my awareness while simultaneously expanding my consciousness, sharpening my perception of the world around me. Mugwort is especially helpful for folks who possess a dominant air element in their constitutions, Vata types, who are typically highly sensory, creative, and deeply intuitive. Yet at times, we may encounter challenges with self expression and feeling like we don’t belong. Mugwort helps us remember, connect deeper and feel at home here on Earth.
Physically, Mugwort may be helpful with poor digestion, liver stagnation, delayed or heavy menses + menstrual pains, cramps, tensions, rheumatic pains, colds, anxiety + nervousness (more on that below)
Artemis bundle includes few different medicines to help you connect with, build, and deepen your relationship with Mugwort. When I embark on a journey with the plant, I typically create an altar and fast with them, here, also it really depends what kind of plant it is and also on my intentions. Plant spirit journey is a personal and intuitive process, unique to each person. Listen to your intuition, follow your heart, and remain curious + open to hearing the messages from Mugwort. May you be lovingly guided by the wisdom of Mugwort, Elements, Celestial beings and your healed Ancestors.
Medicines in the bundle:
50ml Hydrosol { Steam + hydro distillation fresh mugwort}
30 ml Tincture {physical potion, fresh mugwort infused in 50% alc for 6weeks}
10 ml roll on bottle with ritual oil, crafted on the day of Venus & hour of the Moon. Infused for a whole moon cycle in the oils of olives.
30 ml salve, Mugwort in the oils of olives + beeswax, poured on Moonday & Venus hour
Glass vials with approx 10g of dried Mugwort for smoke medicine, rituals bath, teas. {tubes have a small mouth, so using a chopstick will be ideal :)
Hydrosol is wonderful for dreaming and visioning, offering a way to cleanse + purify your space before sleep, during a ritual, or in meditation. Hydrosols are lovely for those who prefer a smokeless method of cleansing, where using smoke might not be possible. They are also amazing to mist on your face in your skincare routine, as a toner or natural deodorant.
Mugwort tincture, physical extract which can be worked with as vibrational or physical medicine. Tinctures are medicines where we macerate herbs in alcohol for +6 weeks. For journeying or plant spirit communion I suggest starting slowly, as Mugwort is very potent. I prefer to work with them for about a week, then take a week or two off to integrate. You can take a tincture up to 3x/ day. Lovely to start around New/Full moon. You can start w 4-7 drops which is more than enough for spirit communion + dream work, and also you can slowly build your way up to 20-25 drops. On a physical plane, Mugwort is an aromatic bitter containing warming volatile oils that help to bring circulation and warmth to the gastrointestinal tract. Very supportive for digestive symptoms such as gas and bloating, lovely to take some before meals. Artemisia increases circulation to the uterus helping to remove stagnant blood and is beautiful to help us bring our moon cycle back to its natural rhythm, eases cramps as well as premenstrual and menstrual anxiety + nervousness. Mugwort soothes my entire body, calming my mind and spirit.
Mugwort oil can be worked with for ritual, meditation, and divination work. The fragrance of this oil is absolutely beautiful. I always work with fresh Mugwort to create my infused oil. This batch was crafted using both leaves and flowers, during her crone stage, on the day of Venus and the hour of the Moon, which helps to connect us to both of these energies. The salve can be applied daily on the belly, as well as on sore and achy muscles, or it can be rubbed on the third eye, heart, or even on the soles of the feet. For dreaming and visioning, it can be used before bedtime similarly to ritual oil. Some folks prefer to work with the salve, as easier to apply. I personally always carry a salve with me wherever I go.
Dried Mugwort can be worked with as smoke medicine, for blessings, offerings, purification or space clearing. You can use a charcoal disc to burn a tiny bit of Mugwort, or alternatively, you can choose to smoke the plant. Mugwort is a plant ally that I work with in this way, often using a pipe to clear and bless my space, blow a smoke around my body, or as a preparatory ritual before harvesting plants or concocting potions. I find Mugwort to be very potent as smoke medicine. You can brew a tea to connect with Mugwort, which is beautiful and expansive, or place a pinch under your pillow for dream recall and protection. You can also add some into your bath to create a cleansing and purifying ritual { brew a strong tea then pour it into your bath}, or craft a yoni steam to release stagnant energies from your womb /yoni.
Keep a journal and write your dreams + messages, as they hold so much wisdom.
Do not work with Mugwort if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Always consult your doctor if you are on any medication or have allergies to the Asteraceae family*
